Our multiple trips to SoDak

On Sunday, we went to Flandreau, S.D., for a car show. My dad finished 2nd in his division ... and there were more than 2 cars. The big event was in the parking lot of a casino, so you can imagine how I spent the day. They didn't have craps, so Brad spent a large portion of the day in the parking lot not answering car questions (because he doesn't know anything) and sunburning the bottom half of his leg.

Today we went shopping in Sioux Falls, S.D. Tried waving to all of the farm folk along the way, but nobody would wave back at us. We tried to blame the New Mexico plates on our car but it turns out that we don't even have a front plate so the locals didn't immediately know that we were outsiders. We stopped at the Welcome to Iowa sign on the trip home. Then we tried a new route home and got lost 3 times. But that did lead to our first visit to Doon. And we learned that a road could easily turn from paved to gravel in the blink of an eye. Exciting stuff. Now, if the farmers would just wave to us.
